Carol Grodzins
Carol Grodzins is the former Vice President of Ashoka and former International Programs Director at Harvard Kennedy School of Government. She has served in the Peace Corps and worked in higher education, health, and grassroots organizing.
Ms. Grodzins was the President of a Massachusetts statewide, nurse-led organization promoting family-centric obstetrics, and in the 1980s, she spearheaded the development of the Massachusetts Committee for a Nuclear Weapons Freeze which educated citizens, lobbied Congress, and organized grassroots support for an end to new nuclear weapons testing, production, and deployment.
In 1989, Ms. Grodzins joined the Harvard Institute for International Development’s macroeconomic policy group. While at Harvard, she co-launched the Program on NGOs, the Kennedy School’s MPA in International development, and created a program to bring Burmese from inside and outside of the country to Harvard to study and build relationships to prepare for democracy in their country. Ms. Grodzins became a grandmother in 2010. She holds a B.A. in Russian Languages and Literature from the University of Illinois and an MPA from Harvard.
